Christus Redemptor

Creation's dawn, in manifold light,
Unique in consummate love.
The nature of man yet innocent of
Decay and sinful plight.
Through conceit alone we deviate,
In wicked lust for sin's estate,
In wicked lust for sin's estate.

For scheme remiss and death's impair,
Man banished forth from garden's grace,
In prideful sin and will abased
To wander thence in blind dispair.
Through conceit alone we deviate,
In wicked lust for sin's estate,
In wicked lust for sin's estate.

The eternal Word, to dust below,
Travailed by will in feeble form.
To wholly quell man's sinful storm,
A matchless gift He did bestow.
In Christ alone do we abide,
Where mercy flows in ceaseless tide,
Where mercy flows in ceaseless tide.

Redemption's rest, by love's defray,
Unveiled in flesh assumed,
Christ, freely born of virgin's womb,
Became our certain stay.
In Christ alone do we abide,
Where mercy flows in ceaseless tide,
Where mercy flows in ceaseless tide.

Resting upon assurance whole,
The work of God in Christ replete,
By life and death through grace did mete
The gift of faith to many enroll.

In holy psalm do we confess,
The salvation of God in Christ manifest,
The salvation of God in Christ manifest.

The catholic Church, in Him consists,
Through Spirit's work unbound in life.
Absolve divisions of hate and strife,
Unity by charity to all enlist.
In holy psalm do we confess,
The salvation of God in Christ manifest,
The salvation of God in Christ manifest.

This isn't in response to this post but the post you left on my page...I just didn't know where else to respond.

First of all thank you.

When I think of happiness and joy. I imagine that if you were to ask some average joes on the street if he were happy, and you were able to conduct this study while and get honest answers I think a good portion of people would respond yes they are happy. Were you to ask are you joyful, it seems like it would be a lot harder to bullshit yourself into thinking that you are joyful. I imagine that joy is unmistakable, whereas, happiness, can be complacency, or that the joe doesn't have any complaints at the moment, or that they are pursuing temporary pleasures which give happiness in short bursts, but that those pursuits always fall short.

As for Phil 4:4, when I think of the word rejoice, I think of celebration, we most often think of celebration as smiley, but if I imagine soldiers celebrating an ending war, I picture men falling to their knees in tears because they made it through and that they are on their way home. I am not convinced that Paul is saying "when the rapture comes, lets end it like an 80's movie, everybody jumping at the same time so we can catch the freeze frame.

I am looking forward to non-parental company, so by all means, make haste. See you soon amigo.

Cheers,

BS
